Running this festival is something we deeply care about. At the same time, we encounter barriers in the process and we recognize that we also reproduce barriers that prevent others from fully participating.

We aim to support filmmakers from a wide range of backgrounds and to showcase films from across the globe. However, we are aware that within queer film production, certain regions remain underrepresented. The same applies to trans, inter, and non-binary filmmakers, filmmakers from working-class backgrounds, and disabled filmmakers, among others who are marginalized both within broader society and within queer communities and film production.

Through our curatorial decisions, we strive to challenge these structural inequalities, while acknowledging that we have limitations, make mistakes, and don’t always meet our intentions.

As part of our commitment to greater transparency, we are sharing an overview of the countries involved in the (co-)production of the selected festival films. During the invitation process, we also asked filmmakers how they identify. While not everyone chose to respond, you can find an overview of the collected responses below.
