Kareem Jamaal Baholzer is a writer, film programmer, and filmmaker based in Berlin, approaching cinema through a critical lens attentive to power structures. As a festival programmer and previewer, Jamaal has worked for Schwule Filmwoche Freiburg, the sections Panorama, Perspektive Deutsches Kino and Generation at the Berlinale, and has guest-curated, among others, for Filmfest Dresden. Currently, they are a SinemaPlural Fellow for film mediation at Sinema Transtopia and work on the Non-Fiction committee at the Zürcher Filmstiftung. In addition to programming for XPOSED since 2023, they have been taking on more roles, including co-curating the off-year screening series XPOSED: Films Against War since 2024.
