POL MERCHAN
Pol Merchan is an artist, filmmaker, and curator. He joined Xposed in 2019 after winning the Xposed Queer Short Film Fund with his film Pirate Boys. Since 2024, he has been part of the selection committee for the Panorama section at the Berlinale. He has curated short film programs in collaboration with queerANarchive at the LGBTIQ Center Split and Centre d’Art La Panera, and has served on the jury of festivals such as TRANSlations: Seattle Trans Film Festival and Filmfest Dresden. As a curator, he foregrounds neurodiversity and accessibility as ways to rethink how cinema is created, experienced, and shared, approaching it as a space for experimentation and for developing new ways of perceiving and feeling. His films have been presented internationally at festivals and institutions including MoMA, Museo Reina Sofía, International Film Festival Rotterdam, and Anthology Film Archives. He has also given lectures and seminars at Concordia University, the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, and Folkwang Universität der Künste.
