{"id":2844,"date":"2024-05-23T10:45:57","date_gmt":"2024-05-23T09:45:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/xposedfilmfestival.com\/2025\/?page_id=2844"},"modified":"2024-05-23T10:45:57","modified_gmt":"2024-05-23T09:45:57","slug":"palestine-israel","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/xposedfilmfestival.com\/2025\/palestine-israel\/","title":{"rendered":"Palestine-Israel"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_medium\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-2 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_col-sm-8 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">Statement by XPOSED Queer Film Festival on Palestine-Israel<\/h1>\n<p>We are organising this year\u2019s festival in highly politicised times and we would like to clarify our positions and the philosophy that we stand for.<\/p>\n<p>On many occasions in the past months, accusations of anti-Semitism have been used as a justification for the German government and cultural institutions to threaten and silence anti-war perspectives &#8211; many of them coming from people of colour, migrants, foreigners, students, artists and queer and trans* people, like us. We especially disagree with the crackdown on and silencing of Palestinian and Jewish voices under the disguise of fighting anti-Semitism.<\/p>\n<p>While we receive public funding for XPOSED, we are not a public institution. As an independent queer film festival, we are going to uphold freedom of artistic expressions and a space for dissent and political voices. While we do not need to agree on everything in order to come together, we refuse to censor ourselves from our responsibility as a festival, towards our audience or invited filmmakers, even if the conversations we need to have are difficult and painful.<\/p>\n<p>We reject militarism, anti-Muslim racism and anti-Semitism in all their forms. We are deeply disturbed by the violence and the atrocities committed against civilians in occupied Palestine and Israel.
