{"id":3295,"date":"2025-05-05T10:41:36","date_gmt":"2025-05-05T08:41:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/xposedfilmfestival.com\/2025\/?post_type=film&#038;p=3295"},"modified":"2025-05-06T19:35:27","modified_gmt":"2025-05-06T17:35:27","slug":"shorts-7-its-not-so-easy","status":"publish","type":"film","link":"https:\/\/xposedfilmfestival.com\/2025\/film\/shorts-7-its-not-so-easy\/","title":{"rendered":"Shorts 7 \u2013 It\u2019s Not So Easy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This program deals with confrontations with biological parents, a topic usually heavy and difficult to process.\u00a0<i>Ponay (or You\u2019re Not F***ing Welcome)<\/i>\u00a0opens with double struggles as a nonbinary person in Southern Thailand (where \u201cponay\u201d means social dissent or \u201cqueer\u201d), against the binary military conscription and the conservative father figure.\u00a0<i>Hi ading<\/i>\u00a0(meaning \u201clittle one\u201d in Ilocano language) reminds us that younger queer people often forget what their parents have been through, especially as racialized migrants in Canada. <i>My Therapist Said, I Am Full of Sadness<\/i>\u00a0is not a film full of sadness, but a transformative reflection that lays bare the director\u2019s intimate moments in childhood in Indonesia and now adulthood in Germany.\u00a0<i>Tragedy\u00a0<\/i>comically ends the program with a mockumentary note, a re-narration of footage the director made during their childhood as if (or if ever) they and their mother committed murder on their father.
